oh, the joys of banana bread: the smell, the taste, the loaf of beautiful goodness. while i made the bread yesterday i have sliced, toasted, and buttered a piece today to enjoy with this here cup of coffee made by my love. what's so creative about banana bread? it's a week of leftover food being put to good use and trying not to dash to the store this week, stretching the shopping to a two-week period if possible. we'll see. back to this bread: i have no brown sugar in the pantry. a quick internet search later and ta-da: mixing molasses + organic sugar = brown sugar. so glad! i will make my own always! and then putting the 3 darkened bananas to good use. the recipe was new, from the King Arthur Flour website (gnocci recipe on the site as well). i'm so pleased. this compliments the banana bread recipe i've used since junior high but doesn't make as well here in VA. i think i can only make the other while in MS since the making of it is somehow linked to my home state. of course, now grinding my cinnamon & nutmeg helps!
