sacred day two hundred sixty-two

open house.
9.20.2011

open house means getting to sit in the chair where my boy's been sitting during school.  open house means seeing some images of what he's been doing while in school.  open house means getting glimpses of the life he's leading in the spaces of his day. moments i can only glimpse and can only witness in this way.  soon i'll be in the classroom volunteering. yet there's a sacred process of knowing when to let go, when to release.  there's a sacred process in witnessing and holding on as well.

sacred day two hundred fifty-nine

a proud boy.
9.16.2011

decked in his purple gear we get ready to roll outside after his second week of kindergarden.  he's dressed well, with high spirits.  he is ready to play.  he knows he's a cool kid with his headband and rockin' socks.  i love, love, love my sweet boy. he is a gift.  he is beautiful. he is sacred.

sacred day two hundred five

morning play.
7.24.2011

object lessons can sometimes really connect.  my love presented a lesson in objects & words to our gathered group on this morning. the story telling and reflections were sacred.  it was a conversation that led to knowing myself and others a little more fully.  what a gift.  what a gift.  and we played with blocks.

sacred day one hundred eighty-four

lab school playground.
7.3.2011

tears came to my eyes when i discovered the playground from the lab school ((where i spent 6 years working during college & grad school)) was now a part of the church ((where i was on staff 3 years, married, & is my church home)).  the reading loft is there, too.  each time i return home there are glimpses of my life circles looping together.  here my boy plays with a recent graduate of lab school following a church service that fed the soul.  my soul sings. my eyes water. my heart is full.

feathers.
6.24.2011

i love birds. i love bird nests. i love feathers.  sitting still creating feathers, i'm given a space for creative rest.  my hands and mind and spirit are connected into a centered space of peaceful wholenss.  i'm leaning into my creative self, embracing each aspect of the moment through simplicity.  sacred delight!

sacred day one hundred seventy-four

hello, bloom.
6.22.2011

i can't help but be reminded of the sacred feminine when glancing upon these flowers.  i kept calling them the vulva bloom... and i may only think such from now on.  a gentle reminder of the beauty of the sacred feminine in so much of nature.  thank you, mother earth.

sacred day one hundred fifty

sweet finds.
5.29.2011

i love exploring with my dear friend.  we enjoyed moving through the city, taking photos, laughing.  our friendship has spanned so many years and fills my cup to the brim.  each moment with her is a sacred moment.  what joy. what delight.  savoring each moment.

sacred day one hundred thirty-three

fruition.
5.13.2011

sometimes there are ideas that percolate for months, others for years.  these days i'm attempting to see quite a few come to fruition.  some are birthed easily while others take time.  i've wanted to make affirmation banners to bring together my art+spirit passion further.  these are perfect. i love them just as they are: imperfection infused with meaning.  love.

sacred day one hundred thirty

mulberries & dirt.
5.10.2011

my son's hands are covered in dirt and the sticky sweet yummy of mulberries freshly picked off an old, old tree.  we delighted in this day, in these quiet moments at the farmer's market together. we love the new and old that comes with such trips: new friends and faces, old roots planted deep.  new lambs, old stories and knowing.  i love these hands of his, which speak so well.

sacred day one hundred twenty-nine

a shared story.
5.8.2011

oh, how i love to see this little pony near the earth.  she was once on the rooftop. she became a story for a deary who asked me to bring the pony to her.  i couldn't imagine how i could have done so.  and there she was this morning. looking up with a smile on her face.  there was a glimpse of the sacred in this moment.

sacred day one hundred twenty-eight

he plays.
5.7.2011

offering some blocks for play to my sweet boy, he instantly takes them and makes them his own.  he fills his mind with stories and creates.  it's a lovely space, watching him play is so delightful. seeing his essence move from within, his sense of play and his humor. it's a sacred witnessing.

sacred day one hundred twenty-seven

sacred toes.
5.6.2011

there's so much goodness that fills you up when you hold a sweet baby. i love this sweet one. her toes are no exception. love them.  love holding her, soaking in the goodness that moves from within her dear soul.

sacred day one hundred three

creative play.
4.12.2011

i love creating little boxes filled with items that will be used to create.  each one is a treasure chest filled with fun, filled with possibility, filled with wonder.  a special space for sacred hands.

sacred day ninety

guerilla kindness.
3.30.2011

there is something sacred about these acts of guerilla art kindness that pop into life in spaces of the city that need a little love.  seeing this bright art stirrs up excitement and gratitude within my soul.  i am certain many drive by and have a smile on their face when they see such creative goodness.  what a gift.

sacred day eighty

beauty.
3.20.2011

i see beauty in the spaces she creates.  i see a sacred story and an uninhibited telling.  her hands take care in how she creates.  it what seems like a second, she's made a work of beauty.  i believe that she can see how beautiful the work of her hands is. i truly hope so.  i see it in the sacred telling of this story.

sacred day seventy-four

evidence.
3.14.2011

my son and a sweet friend played together under their table tent in the studio. they were with each other the entire time.  they pretended, created, and loved one another through good play.  they shared food and water. they traveled and it was a sacred time. i loved the energy of their presence and play.  i fussed once when my sweet one wouldn't listen to my words because he was so focued, but even that was silly and fun.  their treasured time together was a glimpse of the sacred. their life stories are woven together over these days, and we celebrate our sweet friend's five this week.  his week.  this is a sacred story that i can only witness, getting invited into the conversation only occasionally.  i'm glad the evidence is felt within my being and is left on the items they found and named as treasures.  i even step in these sacred spaces and know their presence was here.

sacred day seventy-two

creating space.
3.12.2011

oh, giving birth to an idea takes so much time and energy.  creating a space for life to emerge is a sacred task.  the life that i created wtih another is in its third year and we are so proud. now there are many hands bringing it to life again and again.  i am so, so glad. sometimes a little nervous and excited, just like the expectant mother.  i love this event. if you're in the richmond, va area: my message to you is that you simply. must. be. there.  there is room for you at the table.  come
