day one hundred twenty-four

watering in the morning light.
5.4.2010

i grew up in a wisteria tree. i was born there, took my shape amidst the bees. i learned to cook with the mud, making mudpies. i would use the blooms in so many ways. the fragrance brings my attention through all of my body: memory, touch, smell, heart, and mind, to my grandmother. she rooted the vine that would become the tree and planted it in her space to see me grow. she gave me life in so many ways, along with my mother. i honor my grandmother and love my mother so. i dream of our life in a timeless way when i smell these blooms. the life-giving, life-honoring blooms they are.
