day one hundred thirty-six

choosing the right monster.

each monster has its' own personality. truly. i needed to find just the right monster for my sweet boy, and i did. it's not here in this scene, because he was chosen, singled out, and taken for the ride home. a delightful treat full of expectation: will he love the monster as it's meant to be? will he take delight and humor? a creative choice with creative hopes for his lived out imagination full of monsters, knights, dragons, and pirates...

called to create is a play off of a title given to an interview i did some time ago with the editor of christ & creativity on fidelia's sisters, the young clergy women's online journal. the interviews continue and the title moves with each artist-minister-clergywoman. i am called to create, as are we all, i believe. through called to create i will upload a daily image of my pursuit to live creatively, through all acts of life. my blog life in ministry, motherhood, and the arts holds even more depth and musings of my creative life. instagram aids my process here in 2013.

the history ::

year four: 2013.

speaking wisdom. a new look. a new angle.

2012's daily practice of listening to wisdom opened a new path for the rest of my life. i'm still listening. i'm still learning. it will be a life-long pursuit of listening, learning, and sharing. for now, the practice on called to create continues.

year three: 2012.

speaking wisdom. i caught myself wishing i'd only listened. i knew. i heard, yet that voice within wasn't enough in the moment for me to change my path. to walk away. to walk toward. so at the start of 2012. i knew. i knew 2012 would be the year to listen. as i listened, i heard the call to speak as well. the first card and wisdom circle were born. so much life and abundance has grown from this practice. i share the work with you here on called to create and in the etsy shop as well.

year two: 2011

during 2011, i spent a year naming the sacred moments experienced in the art of daily living. one moment named & visually recorded per day.

from sweeping as a spiritual act to peace work in sewing to the spaces of soul food and kindred spirits, the 2011 journey created space for naming the sacred in the dirt, in the dust, in the lived-in spaces of life.

year one: 2010

the journey began recording one creative act a day of throughout 2010. each day's act was meant to open the depth of creativity as witnessed, observed, and acted.
